There are three accommodation options for students in the United States:

• On-campus accommodation: This is where you live on the school’s campus in a student room or apartment usually co-sharing with two or three people of the same gender, to the gym, classroom and library.One advantage is you can use kitchen facilities for free and you can save money on buying furniture. What you will gain is a sense of community from the social bonding of being part of campus life.

• Off-campus accommodation: Normally less expensive than living on- campus you hire a private/shared apartment outside of campus. The International Office at the university can usually help you with information about private apartments and where to look for them. It can also be useful for temporary accommodation in the first few weeks upon arriving.
• Host family accommodation: Homestays is a more expensive accommodation option than living off-campus. Most helpful for younger students that are under the age of 18 deal with homesickness and living in a foreign country. Usually, you will be placed with an American Family within close proximity to your campus. This is the fastest way to immerse yourself and get a feel for the American culture.
