How To Achieve Goals by Coach J

How to achieve goals is a very often asked question because there are few who can really say they achieve most of their goals. In fact, the majority of people are goal setters while the goal achievers are the minority. Since most have set goals already, they are likely carried over from New Year to New Year. Let us focus on the most important aspect of any goal which is actually achieving it. There are many theories and methodologies to achieve goals but the key is not in the concepts but rather concentrate on the actions to achieve goals.

Steps To Achieve Goals

Let’s start with the goal in mind; you need to know how to get to the end when you have achieved your goal. For example, when you need to get somewhere you need to know a route or have directions. A GPS system in your car or phone can help you get there too. So before you do anything make sure you have an actionable plan that will get you to reach your goal. Have specific steps that you will take to get you where you want to be. It is best to write it down and refer to this plan multiple times per day. Then you can put a check mark by all the items you were able to accomplish.

Now that you have an actionable plan in use, make sure you stick to the plan. Having a plan does not do anything for you unless you take the actions to implement the plan. One thing to keep in mind is that as you execute your plan, there may be instances where you might have to make adjustments. There will be unexpected occurrences that might happen. So being able to recognize them and make appropriate changes is good for you to do. It is rare for plans to go through all the way without any adjustments.

The next step in how to achieve goals is making sure your motivation level is on high. The simple fact is that if you are not motivated to accomplish your goal don’t even waste the time. Most people will fail here at the motivation and focus stage. Furthermore, if you are easily distracted you need to rethink your goals. To achieve your goal you have to commit to making it happen. If you are only going to give half the effort just forget about it. Nothing will get you to achieve your goal without your very best efforts.

Achieving your goals means you will have to be at your best so, in order to be your best, you need the best. Don't waste your time or money on things that don't work or with people who have never achieved for themselves. Get Maximum Performance, the proven system used by the world's highest achievers to crush their goals.

Do I Need A Life Coach by Coach J

Do I need a life coach is a question that everyone who is interested in any coaching should ask themselves. In addition, you need to understand the pros and cons of life coaching. Since everyone would have different reasons for using a life coach there are still some core principles that would affect everyone’s decision to use a life coach .

It is really important to understand what is a real professional coach? It is important to know the difference between real professional coaches versus life coaches. A real professional coach is typically in the sports world. They have demonstrated proven results to highlight their careers. Real coaches only focus on bottom-line results. They must win or lose their jobs. They are also responsible for the real progressions of their players. So, it is all about real actions and real results. In contrast, life coaches rarely have any proven results or experience. They are solely based on theoretical concepts as opposed to actions. Results are based on the hope of moving ahead, wishful transformations, and rehashed coaching programs.

Obviously not everyone can have a real professional coach like Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, Serena Williams, or Tiger Woods. You may not want to be a world champion or the best of the best but what if you could achieve 10% of the results that a real professional coach could deliver as opposed to 100% of what a life coach may be able to produce? Most would be further ahead with a real professional coach.

At this point, a real professional coach may be out of most people’s reach. So do I need a life coach? If we are talking in terms of “most,” “the average person,” or the person with typical aspirations then the answer would most likely be no. It would save most people a lot of time and money to get a self-help book, watch videos, listen to podcasts, or take an online course. Most life coaches base their coaching practices from the same resources you can access for yourself. Why pay extra for a middle person? Having a piece of paper that says you completed a seminar does not mean you can actually help others. Unfortunately, there are so many self-proclaimed life coaches that think they can help others without achieving anything tangible for themselves other than a certificate of completion for an online course that anyone can take.

GET UNSTUCK SO YOU CAN ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS

All of us have actually remained in that sensation of being stuck at some point in our lives. You understand, that zone that feels as if there are very little, if any alternatives for relief. That zone where no matter the number of times we play it over and over in our minds, we keep winding up with the very same result. It’s simply stuck, plain stuck.

It’s the story we repeat to ourselves over and over. “I can’t take a trip, since I do not have the cash,” or “It’s impossible to go see that movie, who would look after the kids? Or “I ‘d enjoy having a small business, however at my age?” These are the stories we tell inside our minds  that keep us stuck-right where we are.

So until we stop these stories, ending up with what is, we will stay stuck permanently. Therefore when you are feeling stuck there are a number of concerns you may wish to think about, “Who should be doing what in a different way?” and “Who’s holding you back?” The responses may truly amaze you. That is to say it is now time to get unstuck so you can achieve your goals.

3 techniques to get unstuck and achieve goals, or free from your story:

1. Tell your reality

First you have to acknowledge when you feel stuck, you are making yourself a story. Get curious about that story, is it real? “I can’t handle going to see a movie,” “I can’t due to the fact that I need to look after the kids.” Where are the real parts? Did you make it up? Are they excuses? The primary step is to end with the stories and begin with reality. What is it that you truly desire? What is genuine for you? Then begin crafting a brand new story, the real story.

2. Ask for what you desire

Most of us are unable to request what we desire. We believe we’re asking, however it is grumbling and slamming others due to the fact that we do not have what we want and we have actually never ever asked for it. So get clear on what you desire, and then make the demand. Do you desire your partner to do more around your home? Then ask him or her. Do you desire your other half to be more encouraging of your goals? Then ask him or her. Do you require your next door neighbors to take care of your pet for a little bit? Then ask. Most of us would rather grumble and remain stuck than the fear of hearing a “no” from our request so we never ever ask.

Simply ask!

3. Take action

Among various methods to get unstuck is to simply get momentum going. Take huge action. Start moving on, one step in front of the other. Not ho-hum. Not without a plan, however begin making some choices. Just by simply altering your story to your real story and start requesting what you want every time, you will begin to feel much better, and begin ending up being unstuck.

FEAR OF FAILURE IN SPORTS

Is your potential held back by fear of failure in sports? If you can’t breakthrough your performance impediments and you are just turning your gears, it’s a good bet that you are limited by a wall of stress – your own fears.

What is fear? Fear comes in many forms – panic, dread of success, fear or humiliation, and so on. Many athletes hit the wall of stress caused by fear and many other negative emotions.

More than any other fear, the fear of failure restricts athletes from performing their best. It can cause them to give up their dreams in sports.

Do you feel like you are constantly hitting your head against an imaginary wall because you work harder and harder to perform your best, but simply become more frustrated with a lack of improvement or success?

For numerous players, it is far easier to work harder and harder than to address their internal demons that holds them back.

Many athletes will make a change in program to improve performance way before they attempt to look inside themselves at their self-sabotaging beliefs.

It does not matter how hard you work at your sport unless you work effectively and work on the right parts. And all the hard work you do to get back towards your sports goals can backfire when you hit a brick wall of stress caused by the fear of failure in sports.

The bottom line is that most athletes have high expectations, love to train hard, and want to win.

DAILY ROUTINE HAZARDS

Athletes are too engaged with their regular rule routines to stop and address the biggest roadblock on the road of success – fear of failure and beliefs that limit physical potential.

Several mental challenges are a result of the fear of failure, such as poor self-confidence, worry about making mistakes, fear of rejection, embarrassment, and the list goes on.

One of the biggest downsides of fear of failure is having an intense avoidance mindset. Players with an avoidance mindset strive to avoid pain instead of striving for success. Athletes condition their minds to escape making mistakes and emotional pain at all costs.

Stop Your Fear Of Failure

The first place to start in order to stop fear of failure is to identify what type of fear causes you to bang your head against the imaginary wall of stress. Most of these fears are born out of an intense desire to succeed or to avoid the negative social scrutiny.

Most athletes with the fear of failure in sports are afraid to fail or lose because they work so hard to achieve their goals and succeed. This intense desire to succeed is the cause for athletes to worry about not reaching their goals.

An athlete grows very concerned about not achieving, or gaining social recognition, that he or she dwells too much about avoiding failure.

The next step or change you must make to break through the wall of stress is to focus your mind on seeking to obtain success instead of avoiding failure. When you sharpen your mind on obtaining success, you will come closer to obtaining it.

One additional strategy is to make sure that all the mental imaging or visualizations in your mind will focus on obtaining success rather than avoiding failure.

FOCUS TO ACHIEVE GOALS

Have you ever had difficulty remaining focused? An absence of focus can best be described as a compilation of uncertainty, confusion, and impotency. When you aren’t focused, you kind of drift aimlessly along, not really sure what you want to be doing, or how to do it even if you had a clue.

It is easy to set objectives and form plans. It’s easy to say we’re going to do something, but how many of us actually follow through?

Focus is necessary if you want to achieve your goals and become more successful at anything in life. What do I mean by focus? It entail being able to stay on track with your goals and specific actions steps that will help you achieve your goals.

How To Be Focused

In order to stay focused, you will need to be consistent with these 3 things:

1) Know where you are going

2) Know how to get there

3) Do whatever it takes to get there

Now do you understand the importance of knowing what you want and forming a solid plan? Without those first two steps, staying focused would be nearly impossible.

Two big threats to your ability to focus are:

DISTRACTIONS:

All of us have distractions in our lives. Whether they are external (people, video games, television, outside noises like planes or construction) or internal (negative thoughts, fear, embarrassment) – it is up to us to overcome them. Distractions can be aggravating for sure, but they can also serve as a convenient excuse to stop trying.

Do yourself a favor and firmly commit to reducing distractions as you work on how to achieve your goals. You may need to wear earplugs to shut out noise or talk with your family members and ask them for support in achieving your goals. Then you may need to decide to consistently ignore the critical voice in your head that utters messages of failing and doom. Finally you may need to set a new schedule to allow yourself some quiet period each day.

Do whatever is necessary to take charge of your success. Choose to become immune to distractions as much as possible. Remember they become a problem only when you allow it.

Lack Of Commitment:

If you don’t totally commit to your goal, you will find it very difficult to focus on achieving your goals. You’ll be thrown off-track by distractions, self-sabotage, and more. Without commitment, you simply won’t are set forth your best effort which amounts to failure.

Right now, before continuing any further, make an absolute commitment to yourself that you will do whatever is necessary to reach your goals. Promise to courageously face any challenges, take bigger dangers, and believe in your ability to succeed in order to achieve your goals.

Decide that no matter what could happen, you will keep moving forward, maintain learning and growing and developing yourself as a person. Commit that you will develop and sharpen a laser-sharp focus that never deviates.

With that type of disposition, you will become unstoppable!

MOTIVATE ATHLETES IN ANY SPORT

As a coach, you know how crucial it is to motivate athletes in sports. However, how do you know how to deliver it in the professional athletes you train? Athletes are vary different in terms of their individual characteristics, strengths, weaknesses, and motivations. Here are a few suggestions for inspiring young professional athletes.

Here’s How To Do It

Discover each athlete’s special characteristics

Each professional athlete is inspired in different ways. So finding out as much as you can about each of your athletes will assist you to keep them focused. The love of the game, seeing ways to enhance, getting appreciation, or winning can all be aspects that motivate specific professional athletes to carry on.

One size does not fit all when it comes to inspiration, so you’ll have to invest some effort to diversify your methods. As soon as you understand what encourages each professional athlete, you can utilize this for the right methods.

Give the reason

Motivation can address this concern. Why are we doing this? In order to get athletes to do what is required to be done you need to offer the advantages. To young professional athletes, drills can feel repeated. This should be taught in such a method that is easy to understand to all young professional athletes.

It’s much easier to point out how difficult work has paid off down the line when you have described why something works. When a professional athlete sees the outcomes of their actions, they’re typically inspired to listen better to guidelines and work more in practice.

Set goals that are realistic

Shoot for objectives that can be achieved and share these objectives with your athletes. Setting a mix of specific and group objectives can be especially efficient for encouraging younger athletes.

Setting objectives for improvements in specific elements of a sport can be a more efficient method than setting win-based or analytical objectives for a younger team. Objectives can even be practice-related in regards to performance, drills, and inspiration of athletes.

MOTIVATE YOUR ATHLETES AND SEE THE DIFFERENCE

Allow positive reinforcement

Inspiration of your professional athletes is among your key obligations as a coach, and emphasizing its value is critical. Conditioning, psychological readiness and training will make younger athletes better. Without motivation, a person will give less than their best effort.

Motivate and inspire young professional athletes so that they can enjoy their sport and value the advantages of success. Winning games or getting awards is an incentive for some. However improving and learning new techniques will satisfy most. If little actions go along way, provide favorable feedback and keep them inspired.

Motivate team effort

People naturally look for relationships. Forming favorable ones through athletic competitions can be great. For athletes, this sensation of connection can motivate them to put in the additional effort to benefit the team. Even when you are training professional athletes in sports, motivating connections in between people is necessary for inspiration.

Motivate professional athletes to learn more about one another and participate in team-building activities. Commemorate the achievements of the team as a whole and permit the athletes to develop strong relationships and inspire each other.

Commend triumphs big and small

Young athletes desire to feel effective and enjoy the process. If athletes end up performing difficult drills or perform an activity longer than they ever have, utilize this to acknowledge the athlete.

It can be truly difficult to keep a loss from bringing younger athletes down. This is why it’s so essential to watch out for improvements and bring them up. When dealing with young professional athletes it is very important to mention their small accomplishments. Remember this considering some might not acknowledge them by themselves.

Finally

As a coach, how you pick to encourage the professional athletes that you deal with will depend on various factors. Consider the sport, the age and capability level of your athletes. In team sports, it is necessary to encourage professional athletes on the specific level in addition to the group level. With proper inspiration and practice, you can coach young professional athletes to get rid of barriers. In addition to reaching their objectives on to a gratifying athletic profession.

BEWARE THE LIFE COACH

Beware the life coach, a being who believes they can help others in some way excel, reach goals, or can they? Most life coaches tend to believe that they can help others. Since they have received a certificate of some sort, attended a seminar, or read a book so they are now competent to help others. Some have even spent thousands to say they are a master life coach. The problem is not with the vast majority of life coaches who truly want to help others. The problem is with a false sense of confidence that having a piece of paper is like having a valid college degree and it definitely is not.

Life Coaching Certificate Hazard

It is not easy to criticize someone claiming to be able to help others based on a certificate of completion such as a medical degree, doctorate in psychology, or passing a bar exam. Most would know that a degree from an accredited university would entail a level of knowledge beyond the norm. On the other hand, a certificate of completion from a life coaching program is not the same as a curriculum you would find in a university. It is easy to find life coaching training with certificates upon completion for $69 and lower. Most of them are all based on the same rehashed, antiquated theories that seems to permeate the industry.

It is important to note that the pseudo coaching industry is growing. The biggest niche being how to be a life coach. More and more people are turning to life coaches. There’s a belief that they can make their lives easier, reach goals, or help solve some are of their lives. With demand for life coaches it is only obvious more and more people are turning towards this industry in hopes of helping their own situation.

The majority of life coaches are part-time coaches and still need full-time employment to pay the bills. With supply and demand there can be a need for life coaches. It is important that potential clients understand who and what they are allowing to help mentor them. So beware the life coach especially when they have not achieved for themselves.

LIFE COACH DANGERS

Case in point, James Arthur Ray. He is the author of Harmonic Wealth: The Secret of Attracting the Life You Want. Ray is also included in the best-selling book and DVD “The Secret.” He was found guilty and convicted of felony negligent homicide. In October 2009, about 60 of Ray’s followers crammed into a 415-square-foot hut heated with red-hot rocks. Ray, a charismatic guru, told his followers it would be a “rebirthing” but it instead turned into a fatal experience for three people.

When you place your trust with someone claiming to be a life coach make sure you know what you are getting. Just because they say they are a coach doesn’t mean you are Michael Jordan and Phil Jackson is your coach. Life coaching theories tend to be just that, theories, with no expectations of actual results. So beware the life coach, it’s on you!

Sports Motivation Everyone Can Use

Sports motivation is the core for athletic excellence. You can be one of the elite athletes, with all the physical traits, but without the motivational drive to excel there will never be a winner. An athlete’s motivation is internal, from the enjoyment of playing a particular sport as a child to being the best of the best as a champion. Learning the sports motivation game is critical for success.

When we think about sports it is always about competing and winning. The fact of the matter is that it’s really about the motivation that an athlete has to perform at his or her best. When it comes to sports motivation, there are few who really understand how to harness its’ power. Having the capacity to channel athletic excellence always begins and ends with sports motivation.

In any sports motivation program there must be goals. It is important to make adjustments with goals when needed to accommodate the ever changing environment of the competitive season. Therefore it is possible that higher goals need to be set when previous goals have been reached or when original goals expectations was unreasonable.

Understanding sports motivation is a winning formula for success. It is not just for sports but also in life, business, and most things where competition exists. From an individual perspective, you may not be an athlete but you may compete against others or yourself. For example, maybe you are looking for a promotion in your job. Another example, as a business, you are competing against other businesses. Even as a student, you might be competing to get into your first choice for college. Most goals are usually based on competing and winning in some if not all respects. Developing both self-motivating and external motivating skills derived from sports motivation will make a major impact on success or failure. Also known as winning or losing.

Sports motivation is about dominating as many factors as possible to reach that victory. Using positive mindset, visualizing successful outcomes, and raising the trophy are some of the tools. However, success always starts and ends with you.

SLEEP FOR ELON MUSK AND ARIANNA HUFFINGTON'S COMMENTS by Coach J

Sleep or lack of is a problem for even the highest achievers

Well, if you do not know about the very emotional interview of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, in the New York Times, about the difficult times he is experiencing.  It is safe to say you probably don’t know about Arianna Huffington’s comments for him to quit sleeping at his headquarters. You might also be experiencing the same lack of sleep in your daily life. It is a problem that many people deal with, not getting enough due to life, career, and other things that challenge us.

Let’s face it, we all need at least eight hours every night to recharge but the reality is that many of us don’t get 8 hours. Life happens, things happen and pressing issues will always take precedence over sleep hours. If you’re worried about something there is a good chance you will not get eight or more hours. We can debate the merits of a good night’s sleep but the fact is if there is something that is a priority dreamland will be secondary. For example, many students stay up all night during finals trying to cram for the dreaded exam. This isn’t going to change much, it is a right of passage for students.

Sleep is good but…

Sleep is a very good thing for many reasons including health, energy, alertness, and so many other things. Most of us are probably deprived but when things happen sleep isn’t as important to us. Maybe we will make up an all night sleepless fest another night but, for now, there are things that need my attention or else worse things can happen besides losing a night’s rest.

So my take is that both Elon Musk and ArIanna Huffington are both right. Musk runs a huge corporation he is going to have sleepless nights, just dump the Ambien and go old school with caffeine or, my favorite, Mountain Dew. Huffington is correct we all need a good night’s rest and it is important. In life, business, or sports things happen that will predispose us to not getting enough so the best thing to do is get as much done as you can to give you as much sleep time as you can get later. Make the most of the day but there will always be things that will happen to us as sleep approaches. Maybe that’s what a good vacation is all about lol.

LASER SHARP FOCUS by Coach J of Maximum Performance

Focus is a very important part of success and you will need to understand it in order for you to get ahead.

Have you ever had difficulty with being focused? A scarcity of focus can best be described as a regime of disorder, confusion, and weakness. When you aren’t focused, you kind of stray aimlessly along, not really sure what in the world you are doing, or how to do it even if you had a clue.

It is easy to set goals and make plans. It’s easy to mention we’re going to do something but how many of us actually follow through?

Focus is necessary if you want to become more successful at anything in life. What does focus entail? I signify it being able to stay on track with your goals and the actions that will help you achieve them.

Staying Focused With Key Principles

So in order to stay focused, you will need to be consistent with these 3 principles :

1) Know where you are going (direction)
2) Know how to get there (actions)
3) Do whatever it takes to get there (fortitude)

Well, now do you realize the best interests of knowing what you want and forming a solid game plan to get there? Without those first two steps, focus would be nearly impossible.

Get Focus Now

The two biggest threats to your ability to focus are:

Distractions:

All of us have distractions in our lives. Whether the objective is external (other parties, televisions, computer game, outside interference like sirens and commerce) or internal( negative conceives, suspicion, embarrassment) – it is up to us to address these problems. Distractions can be aggravating for sure, but they are able to serve as a convenient excuse to stop trying.

So give yourself an advantage which is firmly about reducing distractions as you work on your goals. You may need to wear earplugs to shut out undue noise, or have a talk with your family members and ask them to support you in your goals. Decide to steadfastly ignore the crucial singer in your head that utters meanings of default and fate. You may need to set a new schedule to allow yourself some quiet sessions each day.

Do whatever is necessary to take charge of your own success. Choose to become immune to distractions as far as possible. Remember, they become a problem merely when you allow them to take over.

Lack of commitment:

If you do not fully commit to your goal, you will find it much more difficult to stay focused. You’ll be readily thrown off-track by self-sabotage, distractions, and more. Without commitment, you simply won’t put forward your best effort!

Right now, before you read any further, make a promise to yourself that you are able to do whatever is necessary to reach your goals. Vow to courageously face any barriers, take bigger risks, and believe in your ability to succeed.

Decide that no matter what happens, you are able to keep moving forward, always keep learning, growing, and developing yourself as a person. Vow that you will develop and sharpen a laser-sharp focus that never deviates.

So with this position, you will become unstoppable!
